1. Your praise from one who seeks your aid
Is slander though no words are said
١. مديحُكَ مَنْ تطالبُهُ برفْدٍ
هجاءٌ منكَ فيه بلا كلامِ
2. For you trust not his boasted worth
So with a meeting rest content, and peace.
٢. لأنَّك لم تثقْ منه بِمَجْدٍ
فتقنَعَ باللِّقاءِ وبالسلام
