1. God does not relieve Wahb ibn Ishaq
From affliction, a sky of total darkness

2. They said the wicked one has asked for rain, so I said to them
No medicine can heal one inflicted by a biting snake

3. He had often whipped his young slave
With effort, if it had saved him from his fate it would have protected him

4. After you no benefit will come to the whipper
If you die in water, O Wahb ibn Ishaq

5. When someone prays for you, I then say
He still complains from continuous affliction

6. If you saw my shyness, you deemed it effeminate
Deceived by the deceit of a hissing serpent

7. With this suspicion of yours, O Abu Hasan
You trusted every smooth-tongued slanderer

8. Until they attacked the women like wild Arabs
When there was no closed door between them

9. You thought too well of men, so be
Wary of them and careful

10. You will not lack water to drink followed
By your drinking in hellfire, lingering and sizzling
