1. My Lord, grant my father Al-Fadl the dew of health, O best refuge!
And make him prosperous, for he is worthy of prosperity.
١. ربِّ هبْ لي في أبي الفضل رَذاذِ
عُوذةَ الصحة يا خير مَعاذِ
2. Magnificent, executing wisdom in his judgments,
And exerting righteous efforts with full determination.
٢. واصطنعْه واتخذه للعلا
إنه أهل اصطناع واتخاذِ
3. God has graced his character,
And nourished him with the bliss of pleasant living.
٣. ماجدٌ ينفُذُ في حكمته
ومساعي بِرِّه كل النفاذِ
4. He is of elegance, forbearance and brightness,
His deeds as even as threading pearls.
٤. أنعم الله على أخلاقه
وغذاه بنعيم العيش غاذي
5. He repays the lute for its right,
When it raves deliriously in response to the lute.
٥. فهو من ظرف وحلم وندى
تستوي أفعاله مثل القِذاذِ
6. Give me a drink for his health’s sake,
For it is a morn of joy and delight!
٦. لجوابِ العُود منه حقّهُ
حين يهذِي في جواب العود هاذي
7. Of diverse hues, like the rubies of Yemen,
Colored by precious gems of Ja’daan.
٧. اسقني واشرب على صحته
إنه عيد اصطباحٍ والتذاذِ
8. Sorrows descend upon its decrees,
Then you see the judgments of Sa’d ibn Mu’adh.
٨. من شمولٍ ذات صِبغٍ قانئٍ
نحلتْها اللونَ أحجار بجاذي
9. That one is yellow, pure of color,
Freed in the days of Chosroes son of Qubadh.
٩. يَنْزل الهمُّ على أحكامها
فترى أحكام سعد بن مُعاذِ
10. My father Al-Fadl, his oaths are indeed
For fulfilling, not vain binding.
١٠. تلك أو صفراء صافٍ لونها
عُتِّقت من عهد كسرى بن قُباذِ
11. The people of elegance sought refuge in a youth,
With pierced armor, and found sanctuary.
١١. وأبي الفضل يميناً إنه
لوصول غير ذي حبل جُذاذِ
12. May God perpetuate the delights through him
In the days of his name, which are dewy.
١٢. عاذ أهل الظرف منه بفتىً
مُثْقَب الزند ولاذوا بملاذِ
١٣. عَمَر الله اللذاذاتِ به
تحت أيام اسمه ذات الرَّذاذِ
