1. O Abul Fadl, flow of Shamitiaqi
Returning every year as it began

2. For your generosity always returns
More deserving than any other to endure

3. None can save you from the blame of kin
Except your great beautiful favours

4. So take refuge in wheat porridge from it
Returning with kindness, return of nobility

5. By God, O son of Salih bin Ali
And son of Isa bin Ja'far al-Qumqami

6. If a pact is forgotten, it is renewed
And my love surely grows

7. A longing has mixed with my heart and crept
Into my veins and penetrated my bones

8. As much as that, I ask for my needs
And attain them without modesty

9. Asking for much of it without greed
Asking for little of it without blame

10. Not belittling your small gifts
Nor magnifying your great favours

11. Long ago they did not wrong like the nights
And you enlightened people like the days

12. You rose above all creation
While men were like feet

13. You flowed in every dead person with favour
Like souls flow in bodies

14. It is kinship, and I am but an agent in it
While you are the decisive authority
