1. The captive, alas his emancipation is impossible

A harsh hearted lad, his heart pounding

3. A beloved one, lessen his benevolence
Though his lovers be many

4. He is graceful among the branches in a garden
His eyes gazing from a narcissus

5. He thrives in being chaste though fertile
And flourishes with verdant lips

6. The darkness of night exceeds the gloom of his branches
And the dawn's light surpasses their brilliance

7. If his pomegranate tree is bare, let it yield
Ample ammunition for the eyes

8. He is the wish, if his beauty increases
The silk of free women and their necklaces

9. Neither my injustice nor neglect hurts him
Though my heart scratches and vexes him

10. And if tomorrow is darker than the Qasim
Whose aloofness I yearn and desire

11. How strange are my eyes that his
Beams hurt me, pain me

12. He shuns me and spurns my company
Preferring others, favoring them

13. Though some flaw in him is submissive
Some merit makes him forthcoming

14. How soon kindness comes from his palm
Why then are his glances distant from me?

15. And he ashes my station in his reign
While he is a spring, pouring his rain

16. His remembrance of me with kindness suffices
What else frees and unties him from me?

17. I do not complain of the moon for its distance
For his horizons have illuminated me

18. He's neither ungrateful nor lost
Consoling my soul, gentle with me

19. When my hopes reform his traits
My soul lives and thrives on him

20. As the time of his rights has drawn near
So silence your tongue from blaming Qasim

21. Or let your only utterance be his praise
How can a servant fault his master

22. When he owes his life and speech to him
Let not the truth be stolen from Qasim

23. For the truth's thieves cannot hide it
His praises were composed from Qasim

24. And from the turtledoves' necks, his amulets
In all conditions, Qasim has

25. The traits of a sword and noble manners
If you employ his glow it guides

26. With sweet speech and eloquence
A lad whose kindness comforts hearts

27. As his gaze delights the eyes
If good is sought he is its key

28. Or evil, he is its lock
I tested him on his promise, so his

29. Word to me was as his covenant
What was said in praise of Qasim

30. He is its proof and substantiation
By his actions, not our words

31. His absolutes are unbound and free
Gold and expenditure are equal

32. On the scale of his judgement
His predecessors in merit

33. May be seen but without precedent
How can the sweetest harvest not thrive

34. When Truth's vines are its progeny?
A plentiful rain known for his care and pity

35. And his good news to people, pouring
When one exaggerates praising him

36. Be brief, though exaggeration is pouring
God has burdened him with responsibilities

37. As befits the burden he bears
O son of Suleiman, by whose name

38. The necks of people gain life
O treasure of the king and his possessions

39. For every incident has its echo
O one whose plots never failed

40. To cleave the mute rock's façade
O refuge of grace when deprived

41. Of his bounty or pressured by need
O sanctuary of the sinner against himself

42. When he commits vile sins
For restoring Egypt's security

43. Egypt's threshing floors are restored to you
And by your generous son, praise

44. And supreme attributes belong to you
If not for Qasim's station of praise

45. The markets would soon be stagnant
Appraiser of a sovereign, aid of his power

46. Cleaving what is robust and firm
Success is what succeeds by his decree

47. And resolve what is produced by his slash
Of a family of leading statesmen

48. In whose hands are poison and its remedy
Destinies by God's command flow

49. Over the palms of their hands
One known is never far from his aid

50. While the stranger cannot reach his depths
How many unruly turned calm by his appeasement

51. Their determination tamed after long restraint
A luminous guiding star for guidance

52. And not one whose burning is secure
A abundant rain guaranteeing life

53. And not one whose prevention is assured
He sacrifices freely his bliss and joy

54. While he yearns and desires the heart
His magnanimity enslaves the free

55. And in doing so, emancipates them
I said to the one unfair to him, they cannot be equated

56. A racehorse and a beast of burden
Realize fully the wish of the master

57. Not just his empathy
And may his life for truth endure

58. And falsehood's expiration persist
And he takes the station of one who opposed him
