1. Though my virtues I keep concealed,
I am blamed for what I never willed,

2. Many a fool finds fault in pure nature-
Hate is but gratitude's twin in man's makeup.

3. Where you see hate for one who did evil,
There you see thanks for kindness recieval.

4. The land gives what seeds you plant in it,
Be the soil ever so excellent.

5. No shame to repay bills with their like,
But shameful to borrow and not strike.

6. Best is the man whose nature will keep,
Giving loans, taking loans in equal reap.

7. Save for grudges, deep-rooted in men,
No tie would snap, till time has run its length.

8. I pick gentle natures and gather their traits-
The scum is skimmed when the milk curdles and separates.

9. I leave base natures to their people,
However much I this refuse.

10. My honor I keep safe from disgrace-
When dirtied, honor can't be replaced.

11. I’m righteous to kin, though their envy persists
And their hatred of me never desists.

12. I don’t cut off those of lower degree,
Be they clan or stranger, I let them be.

13. My nature is mild but has behind it
An ignorance whose harshness I credit.

14. Without wildness in a man, his mettle is not proved,
Without a hothead, his temper is not improved.
