1. O you, the beauty of the world entire,
The clasp that binds the necklace fair,

2. You spoke with wisdom bright and clear,
Dispelling darkness, making meaning sheer.

3. Your words delight as soothing balm,
Coursing through the veins to heal and calm,

4. Else, few could grasp their essence whole
Despite the breadth of rhetoric's realm.

5. You honed them not for critic's aim,
Else he'd cry "Abandoned is your claim!"

6. For if words were but empty shells,
You'd take the pearl and leave the scales.

7. When our Prince their sweetness sips,
Like honey's draught or rain's soft drops,

8. "Enchanting eloquence," he pipes,
"Has it a voice, a drink, my thoughts enthralled in laps?"

9. Speak "girdle," and believe her still,
For truth she speaks, though girdle nil.

10. If faulted there, he would defend,
"Silence that babbler in the end!"

11. You shun all meanings that misguide,
Or lead the folk astray outside.

12. Absolving leader, kith and kin,
From sin or hearts led into sin.

13. How can we see or think upon,
A meaning that wards sin yet bonds all humankind?

14. Great boons you've granted, priceless boons,
Upon the led, the leading ones.

15. You come with saving vigilance,
Redeeming us from recompense.

16. Nay, we owe all thanks to you,
Nobles of faith so good and true.

17. Thus God's blessing upon you lies complete,
No ruination with it compete.

18. Increase God's shaping hand in you,
With fortune's growth and constancy too.

19. Poems of you return more fair,
Than turtledoves' song of faithful pair.

20. Raiment we drape on you becomes,
A badge of your enlight'ned sums.

21. Its verse gains value, rank and height,
From your sublimely precious might.

22. Complete is providence's gain.
No loss with perfection's reign.

23. Lasting prove God's works in you,
With goodness, growth and continuity too.

24. Long last your father's joyous days,
Benevolence and fulsome praise.
