1. For Ali, my father al-Husayn I name him
A character without flaws in his manners

2. A man who follows the master sincerely
And inclines toward his brethren

3. Trustworthy to those who trust him but
No greedy hopes in his guarantees

4. Woe to him who does not restrain his hands
From his hands and woe to him from his tongue

5. Majestic, he gives generously without
Stinting and exceeds the turns of time

6. He knows God’s home and wishes
For his towns and people are his guests

7. He has great ambitions he bears
Much of his goodness finds too little

8. Blooming are the pens of his boons
Budding the fingers of his right hand

9. Whenever a seeker of his bounty came to him
He came to him at his time and moment

10. A buyer of praise, unwilling to see that
The lives of souls are among his prices

11. May God increase him in bounty and glory
Truly a bounty upon his brethren

12. And protect him from doing wrong to a friend
Misfortunes have discouraged his betrayals
