1. Abu al-Husain extended to me a hand,
Through it I hope for reward from him tomorrow.

2. Such are the ways of the generous when
A hand is extended, another is counted for him.

3. So he sees the approval of what he donates,
And his requests are not met with misery.

4. If someone envies himself,
I claim you are that someone.

5. A day will come in which his goodness is stirred,
May your habit ever remain thus.

6. O you who competes with himself out of envy,
You have done well by envying it with envy.

7. O Lord, make him feel at ease, for I reckon
Him lonely because of his seclusion.
