1. God does not take away ancestors who preceded us
Even if they remained, they would find we do not love them

2. How to be consoled when there is no joy in life
And no joy for people who make us die

3. When will the living comprehend us before I perish
And if the dead pass away before me, they pardon us

4. Man must inevitably die or grow old
His people's iciness remains concealed within him

5. We do not yearn for the absence of white and black
Yet we still blame white and black

6. Every amusement that distracts people
From remembering what calamities they encounter around us

7. If they amuse themselves, defending sorrow is their right
And if they weep, those who are sad will weep with us

8. No certainty for people even if they claim
There is no certainty for people who do not count us

9. If people were certain, they would be diligent in their affairs
And how can people be certain who do not make us diligent
