1. None was more inclined to revelry
At the festival than Ibn Yahya

١. لم يَلهُ في المِهْرجانِ أَوْلَى
باللهوِ فيه من ابن يحيى

2. For he resembled generosity
With which he enlivened all the living

٢. لأنه شابَهُ بجودٍ
أحيا به الناسَ كلَّ مَحْيا

3. He renewed the covenant of the Prophet
Through the virtue of Ibn Yahya and his pious excellence

٣. جدَّدَ عهدَ النبيِّ بِرٌّ
من ابنِ يحيى وفَضْلُ تقوى

4. And the covenant of Chosroes, the life of pleasure
Through the son of Chosroes and the beauty of his pastime

٤. وعهدَ كِسْرى نعيمُ عيشٍ
من ابن كسرى وحسنُ ملهى

5. So he remained at the festival a feast day
That brought together for him religion and worldly life

٥. فظلَّ في المهرجان عيدٌ
يجمعُ ديناً له ودُنيا

6. And it is no novelty or wonder
That meaning should compose the two meanings

٦. وليس بِدعاً ولا عجيباً
أنْ يَنْظِمَ المعنيين معنى

7. So may God make him live a thousand years
And he has not seen in living any remainder

٧. فاللَّهُ يُبقيه ألفَ عامٍ
وما رأى في البقاء بُقْيا

8. At times his grandfather ascends through him and attains eminence
And at other times his glory rises high

٨. يَسْمو به جَدُّهُ فيَحْظى
وتارةً مجدُه فيَعْلى

9. And the eyes of the enemy have not ceased
By God's blessing to be hurt through him

٩. ولم تزلْ أعينُ الأعادي
بنعمة اللَّه فيه تَقْذى

10. By him the arrows of death are warded off
When they afflict him, and he is ransomed

١٠. يُوقَى بهم أسهمَ المنايا
إذا ألمَّتْ به ويُفدى
