1. I seek forgiveness from Allah for my open sin,
A wrong I intended in feeble resolve.

2. A gazelle called me with its eyes and voice
With true intent beyond frivolous guile.

3. I did not answer though fortune was in response,
But I was silent as if uncaring.

4. No, I fled while the prey kept seeking me,
By Allah, I was no lustful youth then.

5. I swear by Allah, when I stood confined
That I arose with a heart not stirred.
