1. O Abul Abbas, you were blessed
With sound judgment and health

2. And you have always been
Generous and noble

3. I threatened fate with you
And it yielded with peace

4. And excused what I love
And ignorance sold wisdom

5. So my lord, to wealth
And my lord, to knowledge

6. Stay resolute in my matter
As you were before

7. For there is no sin in my
Returning one day to your grace

8. A sack is not disgraced by patches
Nor a flask by a wax seal

9. A decent living is like a wedding
And surplus like a dream

10. The aged and wealthy
Biting a shriveled lip

11. With stronger judgment
And weaker body

12. Enough, enough for the likes of me
To be attacked with swords

13. Rather I weep because I wake
To find my fate in ruins

14. Though I have tact and wisdom
Tightly bound like a blind man's rope

15. Are you pleased to see fate
Not even name me?

16. And in your kindness there is a charm
For my state - what charm!
