1. A moon and sun begot a planet,
I swear by God they both gave birth.

2. Three shining lights,
That did not change from east to west.

3. Moon and sun parented Jupiter,
His mother did not dispute his fortune.

4. When I announced the birth of Jupiter,
I spoke truthfully, and did not lie.

5. O clan of Bishr, rejoice all of you!
You have given birth to the sought refuge.

6. Blessed is God, glorified is He,
What shooting star of yours pierced through?

7. If you are virtuous or made virtuous,
Branches of glory resemble positions.

8. It is no wonder or absurdity,
That you gave birth to the most virtuous.

9. You have risen while God makes you last,
As the free man's refuge when impoverished.

10. However much we detract from you,
Of God's blessings you will not be counted.

11. You are people whose hands,
Make time seek forgiveness when distressed.

12. So let time thank you, it
Is pleased with you after being angry.

13. When time wrongs its people,
And adds numbers to you all the more.

14. Abbas's father is not one,
To record defeats - he tied them up!

15. He whitened faces with a son of his,
To whom our hopes said "welcome!"

16. That is the key to your rising fortunes,
Thus God decreed and none can prevent.

17. I took it as good omen for him, his nickname,
Not as an ill omen or fox.

18. I pondered a nickname for him,
When reversed, it seemed wondrous:

19. Reordering makes it "Father of Seven"
A fortunate sign, no longer blemished.

20. Rather a sign ensuring seven,
Like falcons that spotted a hare.

21. They come from the loins of a glorious youth,
God did not lie to him or disappoint.

22. One of them has come to him already,
So let him await six who are absent!

23. In a period prosperity will furnish,
God will make it a regulated succession,

24. Until we see him sitting amongst them,
Nobler than pleasure or aloofness.

25. Like the full moon he reached the earth in his light,
Amongst seven stars he sought intimacy.

26. He exceeds time if it transgresses,
And protects people if they feel dread.

27. The stars should thank him for these,
As part of what he tied up and compiled.

28. I have supported, provisioned, a brother I never
Ceased praising what he tied up or compiled.

29. And bless Abu al-Abbas seeking bounty,
From a King who gave him what he sought.

30. Live long, and the newborn, until you see
Children behind you both in procession.

31. From gallant youths like fierce lions,
And girls you think mere butterflies.

32. Shield them O clan of Murthid,
Do not lack the likes of them as profit!

33. O Lord of ancient glory for them on high,
Make wealth for them a playing field.

34. God did not strip your loincloths,
Of this bounty, and they will not be stripped.

35. And arm yourselves with your honor as armor,
Shedding the claws and fangs of time.

36. I said to those hostile and friendly to you,
How far is rain, and how near.

37. Lofty beyond a touching hand,
And nearer than a drinking mouth.

38. How much murmuring dispraised you,
That did not earn your generosity murmuring!

39. Rather it waded through a garden amidst its betrayal,
Pleasing it whether ascending or descending.

40. I have spoken words praising you in wonder,
Had I no foolish wonderment.

41. I diminished it towards you intentionally,
And refined it - not all who refine, diminish!

42. And the like of you is specially entitled,
To the like of it, and the like of you rewards it.

43. I have a virtuous companion with you,
I love that he be cared for and accompanied.

44. Blessed is the bird of good omen for him,
Tell me of him, you who have experienced.

45. Rather, you have with you one who witnesses him
Who has eloquently spoken and expressed.

46. He came and with him came a thrill,
People kiss him like a planet.

47. How excellent the tidings, Ibn 'Ammār's son,
What fine consequence has eventuated!

48. He was a herald of a youth amongst you,
Rather, of a springtime amongst you most fertile.

49. I do not see that God has faced a man,
Except I see he is a good son.

50. I said to those envious of him "Inflame
or extinguish your embers that combust!"

51. Abu al-'Abbas befriends and accompanies
Abu al-'Abbas being befriended and accompanied.

52. However the Shaykh has fickleness,
Leaving him wild and unruly.

53. So make Abu al-'Abbas's hand firm with him
For you have grabbed the wanton corruptor!

54. Chastise him, you have filled his ear with talk,
And push him, you have filled his shoulder.

55. Try with him some matter, and overturn with him
Some matter, you will find overturned and overturned!

56. Articulate, if you address him,
He expresses clearly or makes subtle.

57. He is apt for seriousness, not jest,
Without what is regarded or chosen.

58. Time has disciplined him through its turns,
It has excellently disciplined when it disciplined!

59. His manners are light for his morals,
When not all who shed light, shone light.

60. His conversations shorten the ages
And please the immortal and the aged.

61. He has come to thank you for your bounty,
In every valley, brief but florid.

62. No beseecher of him has tried,
To find fault in your deeds.

63. But I began words seeking grace for him,
For the merit of opinion, drawing favour.

64. Guard him for me, beware for him, and fill
My hands with him - no, with what he deserves!

65. That is my share of your gifts,
If the truth judges that I be appointed.

66. Leave this and pass over it for another,
O most generous of lords, sought for redress!

67. How many a tryst from you, and how many
A tryst that pained me, you unfailing lightning!

68. In the morning are the fish beholden?
Or by evening are they confused?

69. My share of the week - do not forget it!
Let not my arrow be the most unlucky.

70. Your sweetmeat will not miss me
If it appears most wondrous or wondrous.

71. Desire has not shut its doors
Unless its threshold refused to be veiled.

72. If it wished to vanish into a rock
Fragrance would smooth its passage.

73. It spins in its cup with a breath
A spin you see oils swirling in circles.

74. A spectacle assisted relating,
Commending, aiding, sweetening.

75. Like the beauty of the beautiful in his ardour,
It was completed, so he became enraptured and struck.

76. Dense in its filling, but it
Is finer than the breeze of the zephyr.

77. As if its robes were tailored
From the eyes of drops that pearl.

78. It shares in the wings of the hoopoe
In the softness of its roughness.

79. Had it been depicted from its bread
A mouth, it would be the obvious lipped.

80. The lad loves to make his palm
A vessel for every white beauty.

81. An azure tattooed and buried,
A starry whiteness telling of the greyish white.

82. Delight of an eye and mouth, adorned
And sweetened until it flowed from youth.

83. Almonds were tasted by it, no bitterness
Bittered the taster, it always refused.

84. And its critics appraised the sugar,
Debating its appraisal perplexed.

85. Not when the eye saw it, sprouting,
Nor when the molar bit it, sprouting.

86. Do not deny the pampering of one providing
And directing towards you the request.

87. I have lingered upon your length
First, and did not find lingering burdensome.

88. So let the affection of a gallant youth judge fairly,
Arbitration with him has become tiresome.

89. As if he did not know that the sublime
Cast light upon propriety when erected.

90. O Lord of a favor it has value,
Its purity was marred by requesting it!

91. Volunteering a gift adorns it,
Its glaring flaw is that it be sought.

92. Honor of a favour is in its humility,
And disgrace of propriety if made difficult.
