1. O you whose hopes were plucked away,
O you made desolate by tribulation,

2. Bounty has gone, so bounty is not felt,
Deeds have ceased, so deeds are not accomplished,

3. Time has destroyed those who teach their people
What bliss is, so how can they enjoy comfort?

4. Time has robbed his beauty from himself,
So he came and went with no beauty left,

5. Gone is he whose hands the hopeful grasped,
And found through them attainment and rest,

6. Gone is he whose hands grasped the heights,
That none can grasp in praise however expressed,

7. Oh how base is the earth that it still holds firm!
Though rightfully it should shake and quake,

ููุฏ ุงุณุชูุฒููู ูุญููููุง ุงูุฒูุฒุงูู
8. After Muhammad, enough earthquake to know,
No favor comes that to his can compare,

ุฃูู ููููุณู ููุนูุฑููู ุจุนุฏู ุฅูุถุงูู
9. Gone is he who fasts were his banner raised,
Food for guests poured down, gifts unstinting,
ูฉ. ุฐูุจ ุงูุฐู ูุงู ุงูุตูุงู
ู ุดุนุงุฑูู
ููุถูููู ุงูุฅูุฒุงูู ูุงูุขูุงูู
10. So that he was Ramadan in his seclusion,
And in his generosity like Shawwalโs feast,

ุถุงูู ูู ุฅุฎุจุงุชูู
ููุฃูู ูู ุฌูุฏู ุดููุงูู
11. Gone is he whom Adam advised ere he died,
To care for his household, his dear dependents,
ูกูก. ุฐูุจ ุงูุฐู ุฃูุตุงู ุขุฏู
ู ุฅุฐ ู
ุถูู
ุจุนูุงูู ููู
ู ุนููู ุนูุงูู
12. Gone is he who never delayed his promise,
Who, when moved to kindness, had gifts overflowing,

ููู ุฅุฐุง ุฌุงุฑู ุงูุณู

13. Muhammad ibn Nasr, after whom were modeled,
In his nobility, morals and manners excelling,

ุฏู ุจูู ูุตุฑู ุจุนุฏู

ุถูุฑุจุช ุจู ูู ุณุฑูู ุงูุฃู
ุซุงูู
14. A king whose life all heights strove to outvie,
Whose day contended with fates intervening,

ููู ุชูุงูุณุช ุงูุนูุง ูู ุนู

ูุชูุงูุณุชู ูู ููู
ูู ุงูุขุฌุงูู
15. Who saw not his bier as it moved along,
Knows not how mountains themselves walked in mourning,

ูู
ูุฏุฑู ููู ุชุณูููุฑู ุงูุฃุฌุจุงูู
16. Oh grave that triumphed over a garden!
With him it boasted and preened in its glory,
ูกูฆ. ูุง ุญูุฑุฉู ุบูุจุชู ุนููู ุฌูููุฉู
ูุงูุช ุจู ูุจููุณููุง ุชุฎุชุงูู
17. Now all doubters and waverers are sure,
Sites themselves shift in their rising and falling,
ูกูง. ุงูุขู ุฃููู ู
ู ูุดููู ููู
ุชุฑู
ุฃู ุงูุจูุงุนู ู
ู ุงูุจูุงุนู ุชูุฏุงูู
18. The stars have hiding places if misfortune strikes,
And mountains themselves cannot avoid their crumbling,

ูุง ุฃุตูุจ ููููุฌูู

ุบุงูุฑู
ุชุบุชุงูููููู ูููุฌุจุงูู ุฒูุงูู
19. We're consoled that he met his full life's span,
For life's completeness from him was not stolen,

20. A lion has gone and his cubs remain,
And the cubs must now become lions emboldened,

ูุนูููู ุฃู ุชุณุชุฃุณูุฏู ุงูุฃุดุจุงูู
21. When I gained his companionship, though his loss,
Brought hardships heavy upon me that linger,

ูุง ุญูุธูุชู ุจุนูุฑูู ูููุฏ ุฌูุฑูุชู

ูุญูู ุนูููู ุซููุงูู
22. I was left out of wealth he dispensed,
While through it others were lavished with riches,

23. When I sought from him, disappointed went I,
Yet I was patient, no begging or taking,

ูุง ุนุฑุถุชู ูู ูุฎุงุจ ุชุนุฑููุถู
ููู ุนููุชู ูุฃูุญู ุงูุณุคููุงูู
24. I stored him for fortune, knowing for sure,
Like a fortress he'll be for whoever comes after,

25. My soul enjoyed the life breath of his care,
For so long, and to gain satisfaction is wealth,

ุชุนู ู

26. I saw him as the sunโif it you never grasp,
Its radiance gently, subtly comes forward,

ูุถูุงุคูุง ูุงูุฑููู ููู ูููุงูู
27. Truth commands I speakโand truth of himโ
No speaker should oppose what truth has commanded,

ุฑู ุฃู ููุงู ูุญูููู
ุฃูู ูุง ูุฎุงููู ุฃู
ุฑู ุงูููููุงูู
28. My longing for you, O Muhammad,
Has taken fragrant sighs and bounty left barren,

ุฏู ุฅูู
ูููุฏุช ุจู ุงูููุญุงุช ูุงูุฃููุงูู
29. By God I swear, your life had not yet ceased,
When kindness and favor completely retreated,
ูขูฉ. ุจุงูููููู ุฃูุณู
ุฃู ุนูู
ุฑู ู
ุง ุงููุถู
ุญุชูู ุงููุถู ุงูุฅุญุณุงูู ูุงูุฅุฌู
ุงูู
30. Dawn's first light sends its blessings always to you,
And the darkest shadows guard you in your grave clothes,
ูฃู . ุตููู ุงูุบูุฏููู ุนููู ูุงูุขุตุงูู
ูุชุบู
ุฏุชูู ุจุธูููุง ุงูุฃุธูุงูู
31. The earth showed clemency to your radiant cheek,
Meeting requests, however difficult, gently,
ูฃูก. ูุจูุชู ุฃูุนูุฉู ุงูุฏู
ูุน ูุชุงุฑุฉู
ุบูุซู ูุนูุฑูู ู
ูุณุจูู ูุทููุงูู
32. Your hand's limbs stayed composed, which forever,
Through its gifts, composed all beings' limbs,
ูฃูข. ูุนูุง ุงูุซูุฑู ุนู ุญูุฑู ูุฌูู ูู
ูุฒูู
ุญูุฑูู ุงูููุงุก ุฅุฐุง ุนุฑุง ุงูุณุคูุงูู
33. O jewel of the world and its inhabitants,
Orament of one who else no jewel could summon,

ุงุณูุช ุฃูุตุงู ููู ูู
ุชุฒูู
ุจููุงููุง ุชุชู
ุงุณู ุงูุฃูุตุงูู
34. After you affairs spun out of control,
And ruin crept forward to seize and to maim,
ูฃูค. ูุง ุฒููุฉู ุงูุฏููุง ูุฒููุฉู ุฃููููุง

ู ุฃุนูุง ุนููู ุซู
ุงูู
35. Your palace garden weeps for your voice,
For the shapes your breaths gave its blooms' praising,
ูฃูฅ. ุญุงูุชู ุจุฏุงุฑูู ุจุนุฏูู ุงูุฃุญูุงูู
ูุชุบูููุชู ุจูุทูููุง ุงูุฃุบูุงูู
36. Your doves weep, their songs turned to laments,
Such as makes the hoopoe join in their grieving,
ูฃูฆ. ูุจูุงู ู
ููู ุจุณุชุงูู ูุตุฑูู ุฒุงูุฑู
ูุซูุงู ู
ู ููุญุงุชูู ุฃุดูุงูู
37. Help me bear it that your dwellings now lie waste,
While for others still stand, peopled and graced,
ูฃูง. ูุจูุช ุญู
ุงุฆู
ูู ูุนุงุฏ ุบูุงุคูุง
ููุญุงู ูููุงุฌู ุจู
ุซูููู ุงูุจูุจุงู
38. Help me bear it that your horses now weep,
Saddles and bridles weep for them in turn,
ูฃูจ. ุฃุนุฒูุฑู ุนูููู ุจู
ูุฒูุงุชูู ุฃู ุบุฏุชู
ูููููู ุฏููู ุนุงู
ุฑู ูุญูุงูู
39. Help me bear it that your intimates weep,
Hope itself weeps for them and yearns,
ูฃูฉ. ุฃุนุฒูุฒู ุนูููู ุจุตุงููุงุชู ุฃู ุบุฏุชู
ุชุจูู ุงูุณุฑูุฌู ูููู ูุงูุฃุฌูุงูู
40. Help me bear it that your friends are aggrieved,
While through them your dear self was disgraced,
ูคู . ุฃุนุฒุฒู ุนูููู ุจุนุงุฑูุงุชู ุฃู ุบุฏุชู
ูุจูู ุงูุฑุฌุงุกู ููููู ูุงูุชุฃู
ุงูู
41. The weights of all noble deeds, now cast off,
When you set, O sun, all weights were misplaced!
ูคูก. ุฃุนุฒุฒู ุนูููู ุจุฃุตุฏูุงุฆู ุฃู ุบุฏูุง
ููุดุฎุตูู ุงูุบุงูู ุจูู

42. After one who fought and boldly contended,
You've become dust, heaped up or scattered,

ุฐ ุฃูููููุชู ุตููุงูู
43. As for your degraded grave goods laid bare,
Let them go, all hidden things will be bared,
