١. أقِصَرٌ وَعَوَرٌ
وصَلَعٌ في واحِدِ

٢. شواهدٌ مقبولةٌ
ناهيك من شواهدِ
3. That tell us of a man
Whose seat was worn
٣. تُخبرنا عن رجلٍ
مسْتعمَلِ المقافِدِ
4. Whom rachitis bent so he
Stood erect as one seated
٤. أقْمأَهُ القفْدُ فأضْ
حى قائماً كقاعدِ
5. So he averted his sight
Like a flaming lamp
٥. فكفَّ منه بصراً
مثل السراج الواقدِ
6. And his hair fell out
Black as clusters of grapes
٦. وحَتَّ منه شَعراً
أسْوَدَ كالعناقِدِ
