My head was invaded by grey and blond,

2. The crow of youth flew from my brow,
Replaced by the king of checkmate.

3. In the bowl of my brow its hue did alight,
As a chessboard square comes to rest.

4. O grey hair, why did you nest in my head?
I’m but twenty and some, not yet fully matured.
