1. They said his eye was hurting, so I said to them:
From so much killing, grief has touched it.
١. قالوا اشتكتْ عينُه فقلتُ لهم
من كثرة القتل مسَّها الوَصَبُ
2. It has turned red from the blood of those he killed,
And blood on the sword is a wondrous witness.
٢. حُمرتُها من دماءِ من قَتَّلَتْ
والدمُ في النَّصلِ شاهدٌ عَجَبُ
