1. O son of the exalted one, be exalted and do not
Be keen on wasting your father's name

2. And believe those who preferred you and spoke well of you
And deny those envious detractors of yours

3. I gave you a lamp to give you its light
And I thought it would show you

4. I made you a partner in good fortune but you betrayed me
And if I wanted I would not have made you a partner

5. Out of love for literature you went against its principles
And betrayed while absent the one who trusted you

6. You copied my book then rewarded its copying
By losing it, you failed my expectations in you

7. So I said lend me what you copied, I will return it
Right after copying it but you did not see to lend it to me

8. So I said then assign whoever you saw copied it
But you stalled me about that for a year, you impudent one

9. Wake up o heedless one, before blame
That bites the tips of your fingers approaches you

10. Does a borrower approve of copying his book
And you refuse to lend it to him, is that becoming of you?

11. So be not a traitor or a waster
But rather a trustee, preserving, like your peers

12. And appoint your gentle hands to fulfill my need
And give me a day from your months as a gift

13. And rest, though it brings you blame
Is better than toil that protects and shields you

14. He is your brother so do not make him your enemy and seek
For your enemy what can be found for him like a brother
