1. Solomon corrupted the kingdom,
So Allah destroyed him and took him to task.

2. He shepherded Tabaristan with ruinous guidance,
Taking it to destruction bit by bit.

3. He was not righteous in his weakness,
Nor wicked before he wrought havoc.

4. He was the lion, the blossom in his palace,
Yet the fox on the battlefield.

5. I reckon Pharaoh in his disbelief,
And Haman never walked his path.

6. Expect Baghdad’s wedding when it is ruled
By him, for it has become a kingdom.

7. Tabaristan will follow it,
He pretended to be devout, yet danger lurks.

8. He came to it, shaking its pillars,
And paralyzing Ibn Aws at the rocks.

9. Its throne almost collapsed under it,
But blessed is He who upheld it.

10. I found its governor thrown down,
With both hands reaching out to destruction.
