1. O people of Nubukht, stop your gazelles from me,
For they have left neither heart nor body for me,

2. I am the true friend who is beyond doubt,
So why have you bequeathed me, in your love for me, anguish?

3. Return my heart to me, for I have been struck by it,
Or pass judgement on me, or else face the consequences,

4. If a gazelle ensnares me with its eyelashes,
The lions before it have already ensnared gazelles,

5. I entrust to God whoever, if He willed, would do me justice,
And return my heart and extend to me a helping hand.
