1. O noble man of virtue, O father,
Of resolute determination, fully intent,

2. May God protect you as a supportive brother,
Advocating for my possessions, conferring,

3. Victorious time and again striking blows,
I continue to select praises for you,

4. And perpetuate them in witnesses across time,
As construction succeeding fortress walls and mosques,

5. And I hope for its flourishing and growth,
And your hand protects me from calamities,

6. A protection that guards you from being tested,
Or seeing those exalted superfluities,

7. Obeying in cutting them off, the extravagant,
When their types rise above banquets,

8. And the deceitful adornments and futilities,
The white-skinned treacherous flatterers,

9. Who betray their word and covenants,
And if the armed warriors clothe themselves for you,

10. Speaking the affectionate words of devotion,
Beware - may God guide you - of resisting,

11. Lest error lead your guide astray,
And injustice take you down its paths,

12. May injustice not set its traps for you,
So you take my message and visitor lightly,

13. Or my words, promised and promising,
Not everyone who earnestly agreed, ascending,

14. And time favored him, assisting him,
And fortune secured spoils for him,

15. Turned away from his brothers, without aiding,
Or answering their letters, rather stagnant,

16. As if mimicking the stagnant,
Silent and preventing, initiating and repeating,

17. O son of Ali, some are watching over me,
And some hair that cuts across the cheeks,

18. Time and again aiming for the watering places,
And continuously intending the intentions,

19. So as to attain the relics and spoils,
And shed the shackles and necklaces,

20. And loosen the pegs and covenants,
So do not rouse one who did not rouse you as a pillar,

21. Nor rouse one whose censure is gloomy,
Not by refusing him aid,

22. But by scorning him, though glorified,
Whose resolves stirred up the dormant,

23. He thinks Mercury is Mercury,
In word and state, originating and arriving,

24. You try him a thousand times and find him one,
You direct knotty problems to him,

25. Delay in pardoning him has been too long sitting,
Respond to my letter, either barren or fertile,

26. You will find your brother apologizing or praising,
And if you insist on disagreeing with me, enduring,

27. Harboring malice towards me from afar,
And avoided satisfying from me an envious person,

28. Relying on what displeased me, not erring
From it, observing the prohibited bounds,

29. And did not honor that I spend the night striving,
You got used to me protecting my position assembling

30. An entourage, time and again solitary,
I encounter bare wastelands, pursued,

31. Stabbed, with supporters battling,
My piercing wails suffice my struggling,

32. Dueling time and again, inevitably,
Like a wild stallion bred as a hunter,

33. And I have not ceased being a biter that bites,
And I do not bow down submitting to an enemy,

34. And I do not socialize with someone remote,
Never, and I did not give my leader as prey,

35. And I was not worshipping the covetous,
Beware, beware of sending me defiantly,

36. Lest composure stray from the straight path,
And ignorance set upon the recalcitrant path,

37. And know, even if you were intractable, refusing,
That the noble avoid injustices,

38. When their necks rebel,
Their likes have been shackled prisoners,

39. Restrain yourself with iron, cautious of resistance,
And know that poetry does not fade,

40. Rather it is immortal, if anything is immortal,
And oppressors who usurped the tombs,

41. I was terrified of their tyranny, so they slept in anguish,
Miserly, not monopolizing the cushions,

42. I spoke the truth to you, so correct as one guided,
And let the absent with you resemble the present,

43. Do not spend the night above a blazing ridge,
Nor asleep while the one awake in you slumbers,

44. Nor ungrateful to a glorious benefactor,
Nor leave a free man, protector, hating,

45. Gnashing teeth he has serrated,
And marshal on the flanks of affluence the watchposts,

46. You would leave a wound dormant in the hearts,
And not leave ardent hearts,

47. For seeds beget the harvests,
And I was not lying to my people guiding them,

48. And know, when you reproach me glorifying,
Reconsidering your righteousness towards me returning,

49. And you were of those who feared recidivism,
That if you delay my promised time,

50. And summer ignites the ferocious blaze,
The coat will then come frigid,

51. A cold exceeding the cold of winter, additional,
Not a cold that melts a burning heat,

52. Nor delicious like the downpours,
But rather musty resembling the barren,

53. And the ruined traces of barrens,
Heavy on the back, dismal, suppressed,

54. And I do not like sophisticated luxuries,
Nor do I fancy shoddy merchandise,

55. So the opinion is to seek the middle course,
Thereby you will be granted a life of comfort,

56. And make it not reap for you the rewards,
Nor do I find in you a path refusing,

57. For I am not one who wears armor,
I thundered so my diffidence flashed lightning,

58. My thanks, and do not consider me too bold,
From me, and do not summon the violent,

59. Far from you to rouse conspiracies,
For the ego, or to pick the schemes,

60. Like a traitor who gnaws at covenants,
And be a friend who kept the pact,

61. And whose absence did not betray the contracted,
And observe due right and claims,

62. And do not transgress after soundness, corrupt,
Set out to the market of greatness, outbidding,

63. So empower magnanimity, the principles,
Empowering you the free women, loyal,

64. And do not let your hopeful be the oppressed,
Nor your supplicant be the struggling,

65. God has secured the ways for you,
So may God not find you other than steadfast,

66. A structure of honesty that maintains the foundations,
And do not frequent, when present, frequented,

67. Who spends his night avoiding his duty,
A soul who sees salvation in her testing,

68. A suitor who picks the leanest selection,
As if riding an aborted fetus,

69. From a parent that his passions misguided,
If I left my situation seeking supporters,

70. I would have prepared for you a helping hand,
But I did not fear adversaries,

71. Near you, rather, I put my trust firmly,
Resistant to suspicions, repelling,

72. O family of Nawbakht, answer my call,
Affection for you has become for me lost,

73. Did I not furnish aid for you, assisting?
And serve you, deterring and motivating?

74. And you were for me, O son of Ali, smooth,
Disappearing with righteousness from me witnessed,

75. Withholding a shadow that remains still,
Running water that remains flowing,

76. Be to me in affection as our pact was binding,
I have not ceased in you missing loyalty,

77. For my forbearance towards my ignorance became suppressed,
And covenanted ties were fortified with secure walls,

78. O arm I twist arms with,
You were an eye that silences the critics,

79. So do not bewilder, corrupting the critic,
For a hand has triumphed that pacts were made for it,

80. The triumph of a hand that embraced the spoils,
In a Garden whose prosperity is a banquet,

81. Where you see no decrease therein,
Nor find an adversary opposing it.
