1. They said Abu Hafs has satirized you, so I said to them:
My honor is pledged to him for all eternity
١. قالوا هجاك أبو حفص فقلت لهم
عرضي على ذاك وقْفٌ آخر الأبدِ
2. If he needs a small favor from me
The Shaikh's hand will be kept clean of those chargers
٢. بحاجةٍ إن قضاها وهي هينةٌ
يُنَزِّهُ الشيخُ في تلك الصُّحون يدي
3. Who can help me in this? My honor is pledged to him
Without retaliation, sanity, or execution
٣. من لي بذاك وعرْضي ما حييتُ له
بلا قَصَاصٍ ولا عقلٍ ولا قَوَدِ
4. Blessed is God! How sweet are his blows
Upon the cheeks and his coos upon the liver
٤. تبارك اللّه ما أحلى مَصَافِعَهُ
على البنان وأنداها على الكبدِ
