1. O Generous One who has always been patient
With afflictions upon His servant after afflictions

2. He takes from me what hurts Him
And I repay Him with all sorts of suspicions

3. Yet He never ceases His favors upon me
With blessings and graces that continue to flow

4. He who, if the creation competed with Him, would prevail
And who, if the creation was weighed against Him, would outweigh

5. Pardon me and overlook my mistake
O my refuge from the twists of fate

6. Do not punish me, for regret has punished me
Disturbing my soul within my body

7. By the likeness of the sun and moon which
God has adorned with the beauty of decor

8. And who without You would not be seen
The truth of religion if it brought tranquility

9. O Trustworthy One, entrusted before Him
Be faithful to glory, entrusted

10. And make pardon the price for my praise
For how much I have overvalued praise

11. What You have taken offense to
Was no secret hypocrisy made public

12. Rather it was an oversight prompted
By the heedlessness of a heart amidst anxiety and sadness

13. Do not spurn white hair from a head
To which You granted the sweetest youth

14. He did not explicitly offend You, nor
Hide evil, relying on if he erred

15. You have mighty authority, so if
You do not pardon the offender, he despairs

16. What authority, when You have both become
Like a wrongdoer and a wrongdoer paired

17. And when You do not forgive one who slips
The heart rebels against it and is bent

18. Be mighty by overlooking, for it
Leaves the offender robbed of speech

19. And when You notice him in an assembly
Deceit strikes the coward with the beard

20. Humbled of glance, upon him a sheen
The neck bows from the most beautiful pardon

21. It is a profound glory, so perceive it
O wise of heart and eye, be perceptive

22. And restrain the self when it is bitter
That people miss a step from bitterness

23. Do not restrict Your pardon from me, and grant me
O Expansive in pardon, O Vast in clemency

24. Many a free soul has grown accustomed
To the abode of evil, so suppose I dwelled

25. How can You easily discard a man
Who built familiarity and settled with You?

26. I am from fermented clay
And I see You are of the best mud

27. If You obey the self in refusing glory
And discarding praise, favors blame You

28. And sees that You did not care for it
When it guided You to righteous ways

29. The self has called You in its delusion
So take hold of it before it becomes an idol

30. And be fooled for me or fool it, for it
Is a trickery with no loss, only gain

31. If You slumber or refuse and do not listen, who
Shall I hope for or if You insist, who can I turn to?

32. And excuse the passionate in their deeds
For they are overcome, blinded, and possessed
