1. My brother refused the world though it enticed him,
For it has falsehood constantly falsifying it.

2. When spring adorns it with blossoms in the meadows,
The gentle breeze delights the beholders.

3. And when its fruits ripen,
Its edges wither as its autumn improves.

4. It appears to us, in both its ornamentations,
That when passions disdain it, it becomes frail and putrid.
