1. A Wednesday split its week day
Aligned with sun rise in Saud

2. Alas, tomorrow's Eid in its spring
While your spring, alive, tied up

3. So people and cattle have set out
To pastures, grazing to their fill

4. As if your deeds were its fine silk
As if its meadows were picked

5. How the dressed rejoice in our days
Because of you, never missing while the stripped suffer

6. Days grieve over you, each
Complaining of parting, sorrowed

7. Fasting and its month left
Speaking of you whenever awakened

8. They confided about returning
If allowed after passing, to return

9. I swore by the month you adorned
With kindness and piety, dew and tears

10. I'd dress it in sweet scent
O son of fragrances combined and twigs

11. And you stripped it like a bride her gown
Having clad it in incense particles

12. You scented it with your fragrance
Almost your famed praise

13. Why not, when dressed in tranquility
And reverence you wore

14. You spent it shedding tears
And sighing deeply

15. Each disheveled poor you assisted
Never dismissing his request

16. You revived its blessed night
And the poor, defeating hunger

17. When fingers grasped, each fingertip
A spring for it burst forth

18. You bestowed boons making sleepers
After slumber open their eyes unaccustomed before

19. Your night since the new crescent
Was but prostration and kneeling

20. Your fast there folded daylight
Making sensualities prohibited and banned

21. The eye of lust was blinded
Its tongue cut off

22. Your eyes competed during it
And hands constantly worried

23. God made spiritual boons you granted
Armor for your son, lofty and coats

24. These adorn and fortify him
From every feared harm

25. And bring Abu Sahl joy descending
Above events, elevated

26. Where he finds your glorious nose high
And your enemy his, broken

27. While you sleep secure from drums beating
He sleeps, fearing your return, terrified

28. Abu Ruuh, your progeny, is a haven
Hopes in him spring forth

29. A palm that is generous when
Generosity, even if natural, flames

30. Obliging, above nature, in virtues
Deemed obliging by the virtuous

31. Without him, favors never scattered
Nor union of nobility gathered

32. No disappointed seeker seeks his support
But finds the seeker of his stature disappointed

33. May God extend his life in joy
To plans shining in his face and plains

34. Until nobles are seen his followers
And him, like you, followed

35. I swear none faced requests
As grand, nor time's surrender as humble

36. Who was weak in straits
Or deprived in tyranny

37. How I struggled but never found you stingy
And how tested, never finding you weak

38. You now maintain each lost glory
As your protected, legitimate religion

39. And I see you attained leadership
First and won its best returning

40. I say to those who ask of your glory
The lamps outshone morning's emergence

41. To God belong the Sahl dynasty
Neither lowly nor deprived

42. Folk who excel in significant virtues
Either inherited or carved anew

43. Who never lack a favor conferred
Bringing grateful speech in return

44. Giving as though depositing
In earth from it crops

45. Who did not court their ways and censure
Never prospered or enjoyed blessings

46. And when I witnessed without clarity
Or spoke of their worth imprecisely
