1. I remembered, and memory stirs grief,
And reveals hidden sorrows lying dormant.

2. There were covenants that were illuminated by guidance,
And the quarters of those meadows shone with knowledge.

3. Their lands shone with knowledge and faith,
And the pillars of God's Law stood firm within them.

4. Ripe fruits burgeoned there, so whoever desires
Its harvest can attain it, with clusters hanging ready.

5. Its rivers are a sacred path for those who come,
Its springs are like honey, abounding freely.

6. Its birds sang in its gardens,
Echoing the melodies of love and joy.

7. We lived in bliss for an age,
And the lights of this faith ascended the summits.

8. But it was only a fleeting moment, then
All kinds of sorrows enveloped us.

9. We became like tales of those long passed,
That we hear of in later generations.

10. My soul was stricken with sorrow
And grieved at the loss of that sublimity.

11. Afflictions grew more intense and searing -
Rightfully we shed tears of anguish!

12. The quarters of Najd grew dark, its lamps
Extinguished by disasters and calamities.

13. At the death of the Imam of faith, knowledge, and piety -
He who sipped the bitter cups of tribulation.

14. Abdul Latif, the eminent scholar, peerless in his time -
An Imam guiding to truth, called by God.

15. He was truly the pride of mankind and proof -
A burden on enemies, wrathful and resolute.

16. An Imam named Glory ascended to glory -
He reached the pinnacle when he rose high.

17. He strove to counter wrongs and raze
What the enemies of faith had unjustly built.

18. Thus the righteous smiled again, his visage lit,
Protecting their protector from evil foes.

19. May God prolong his life of knowledge and guidance -
Surpassing all people of the age in loftiness!

20. He strove sincerely for God's cause, unflagging,
Mending rifts, forbidding transgressions.

21. When news of his death reached the travelers,
Our faith had a mourner and crier among us.

22. We eulogized him, comforting our hearts
Afflicted with sorrows and bereavement.

23. He was the sun of guidance, the full moon of faith,
The star of truth - let not the weeping mourn him!

24. If grief has appeared in us for him,
And sorrows have befallen us, long and harsh -

25. It is for a brilliant sun of faith eclipsed,
Whose radiant years illuminated the world's summit.

26. May God water his grave, and send down
Floods of contentment and pardon on the sinful.

27. May the special favor and mercy of God
Rest forever on his grave and surround it.

28. Admit him, by grace, to Paradise,
And gather him with the righteous guides.

29. Greetings of peace to him, though he rests
Buried in the graveyard, dormant forever!

30. The scent of musk is fainter than his fragrance,
And the sun's brightest glow dimmer than his light.

31. So, my brethren, have patience, for he has departed
Down the path we all must tread, and gone ahead.

32. Though the peerless full moon has set, and gloom
Enshrouds the abodes of Muslims like an evening veil,

33. He established the emblems of Divine Law, and followed
In the tracks of noble forebears, energetic and bold.

34. Strive and revive Islam after its decline!
Restore the faded symbols to how they were before.

35. Countless are their virtues and merits -
Too numerous for my verse to recount in full.

36. Their glories cannot be measured in poetry -
No covering of an enemy can conceal them.

37. O Lord, show further kindness and grace,
And pardon them, O Responder to supplication!

38. Grant them noble leaders to emulate
Towards goodness - You Who are not heedless of us!

39. God, we ask You to veil our faults,
And erase our heavy sins.

40. Your pardon is hoped for by all who hope,
Your veil universally covers creation.

41. The best conclusion for a poem is prayer and peace
Upon the best guide for all humanity,

42. And his companions - may lightening continue
To flash its radiance over their resting places.
