1. O you who have settled in the remote abode
Where body and soul are united
2. If my efforts could convey to you
My longing, my complaint, my passion, my relief
3. I would have burdened the ample pages, even if
I had loaded the wind, exhausting the wind's strength
4. Nothing gladdens me more than my early rising
And walking to see you again
5. Were it not for you, I would not have lent my ear
To the loud cries, and said to the crier, "Cry more!"
6. It cried, and if it felt my passion for you, it would weep
Like me, with tears flowing down both cheeks
7. So greetings wherever you are, from a wounded heart
Until it is seen, clothed in slaughtered raiments
