1. Your land made me blossom, so I departed from it
Leaving is better than remaining in humiliation

2. When the honorable one is disgraced in the land of a people
And the dishonorable rules over the honorable there for long

3. It is not fitting to remain there except for one
Whose will has been corrupted by resignation

4. Mecca, the most noble of all lands
Bore the affliction of the Prophet leaving it

5. To elaborate on those whose dwellings
Became too confining for them is prolonged

6. O son of those who undertake every heavy burden
Whose glorious enterprise is arduous

7. Those who are praised for the revelation sent down to them
Have no need for what I say of them

8. I seek refuge for you lest time slander me
While you suffice to cover my shortcomings

9. The morning came to you with my sincerity
And loyalty, and the noble one confided in you

10. Lower yourself before him as the crescent moon waned
And appeared through its glass, crescent shaped
