Nor charm against misfortunes unspoken

3. It's enough you shun people, yet I come to you
Not one to be shunned or words harshly spoken

4. A love where I've not drawn near when it takes
No form, no shape, no act kindness unyoked

5. Don’t leave me to time when you’ve saved me from it
Whatever peril, you are my safety token

6. If I’m some burden, bear it, you’ll find me breach
To give you passage, a door left wide open

7. Don’t think me too small, perhaps my wiles will
Serve to crush Gog and Magog, evil awoken

8. Protect me, though I’m a sword whose smith
Has forged me into the finest weapon chosen

9. Banished am I, all banished, edge sharpened
Keen of blade as keenest razor broken

10. Take from me my burdens, lighten my load
And free my nature from what evil has spoken

11. Many bear your burdens till they move as light
As birds, their fetters and weights unbroken

12. O House of Wahb, spare me your coldness
With tenderness let our love remain unbroken

13. I who performed the Hajj, your Kaaba too
Which none other has circled or reverence spoken

14. So do not let your coldness tear my liver
When love for you lives there, flesh-blood unbroken
