١. وَظَبْيٍ تَهَتَّكْتُ فِي حُبِّهِ
وَغَيرِيَ بِالوَصلِ منه انتَفَعْ
2. So I said I will fight with the sword whoever
Seeks to rival me for it until I perish
٢. فَقُلْتُ أقاتِلُ بِالسَّيفِ مَنْ
يُزاحِمُنِي فِيهِ حَتَّى أقَعْ
3. It replied when you try to suppress enemies
Fight with happiness, otherwise refrain
٣. فَقَالَ إذَا رُمْتَ قَمْعَ العِدَا
فَقَاتِلْ بِسَعدٍ وَإلاَّ فَدَعْ
