1. She appeared, swaying in the garments of beauty,
Generous with visitation and union.

2. A gazelle, nothing compares to her grace,
And if she glances, she teases with blades.

3. By her smile, I swear, a pearl,
And in her depths a spring of purity.

4. A waist that entices when she turns,
Like a supple bough among the dunes.

5. She emerged like a gazelle over a gazelle,
And shone like a lamp in the nights.

6. So I began caressing her cheeks,
And kissing her mouth telling secrets.

7. And I shook her branch, embracing and gentle,
And played with right and left.

8. And whoever created modesty for us a guardian
Through the purity of love and beauty of grace.

9. The guardian was absent and my company was good,
And the bird of love trilled obediently.

10. She said, I see you show longing,
And act like one bidding farewell to travels.

11. So I said, gentle, my heart
And love were never indifferent.

12. But I am determined, and determined resolve
To mock the gossipers and slanderers.

13. I'm tired of staying, and everything
When prolonged becomes tedious, no doubt.

14. I will embark on life with a new arrow,
And we will enjoy pleasure and union.

15. And I will return, if God wills, soon
To you, to build the edifice of glory.

16. A pearl quivered in her eyelid,
And she cried "Ah!" from the bitterness of nights.

17. Will you leave, my soul's beloved, a heart
That is melting with yearning for my state?

18. And console me, when you are the bliss of my soul,
And disregard affection or care?

19. May God protect you wherever you are,
And grant you safety and perfection.

20. We gathered, not speaking a word, but
Our streaming tears overflowed continually.

21. Dawn gleamed beneath the Pleiades,
As gray hair gleamed in the eye of the beholder.

22. Oh God, how many hearts have melted,
And how many tears flowed like pearls!

23. On Saturday of Shawwal we rose,
Twenty four days had passed.

24. We boarded the blue ship sailing
And entrusted affairs to the Almighty.

25. The vessel lurched into the deep,
Tossed by south and north winds.

26. Kuwait appeared to us at sunset,
When we arrived there at midday.

27. From Halul we proceeded carefully,
Following the coastline all the while.

28. At midnight a wind blew,
And the group held fast to the ropes.

29. The waves covered everything of us,
Showing defiance, heedless.

30. The captain’s voice reached us
Like wadis roaring in the mountains.

31. The thrashing waves scattered us, so we were
Like feathers unable to alight.

32. Lands cultivated there,
Built up in advancement and beauty.

33. You see white beauties wandering,
Resembling boughs over the sands.

34. They let down their tresses and unveiled allure,
And revealed their faces and glances.
