1. Stop, O Saad, let us descend here
The trysting place of the meadow is our rendezvous

2. Seek for me a reason to weep
For my tears are spent bending

3. This is the Kheif and that is Mina
So go gently, O guide, with us

4. And spare the censure from us awhile
We mourn the absent one and weep for the homeland

5. O people of Mecca, thus has Mecca treated you
It has tempted all who made pilgrimage to it

6. Your arrows have killed our chieftains
I do not mean by that your arrows of reed-grass

7. All who hoped for something attained it
On the feast day at Mina, except me

8. I said: “O hunter of my heart, release it
For the sanctuary at Mina forbids hunting

9. He said: “Whom do you mean?” And he revealed to me
From behind his face-veil a beautiful face

10. I said: “Beware, do not be shy”
He said: “And who did you say the hunter was?”
