3. My heart finds peace only in rememberings of past affection,
I feed my soul memories to ease its hunger.

4. Yet those nights I spent in the valley of al-Arifeen
Still cannot find their way back to me.

5. How I wish again for the sweet water of Rรกhob,
And shade beneath the palms of al-Sarijeh.

6. For a night in the village priest's abode
Where I'd sleep embracing the scripture's binding.
