Or do you not see how the days have adorned themselves,

أو ما ترى الأيام كيف تبرجت

1. Or do you not see how the days have adorned themselves,
And spring has come upon them governing?

١. أَو ما تَرى الأَيّام كَيفَ تَبَرَجت
وَرَبيعُها وَآل عَلَيها قيّم

2. The earth has worn beauty's garment and so become lovely,
Cloaked in its coolness, veiled.

٢. لَبست بِهِ الأَرض الجَمال فَحُسنَها
مُتَأزر بِبُروده مُتعَمم

3. Look at the blossoms of the gardens as if they were
A cloth the hands spread glittering.

٣. انظر إِلى زَهر الرِياض كَأَنَّهُ
وَشيٌ تَنشُره الأَكف منمنم

4. And light descends like necklaces unstrung
And the rose is shy, and the buds smile.

٤. وَالنُور يَهوى كَالعُقود تَبَدَدت
وَالوَرد يَخجَل وَالأَقاحي تبسم

5. Dew forms above them into pearls
Which single and paired deck them.

٥. وَالطل ينظم فَوقَهنَّ لَألِئاً
قَد زانَ مِنهُنَّ الفَرادى التَوأم

6. And the narcissus sheds tears as if
At dawn, bleeding from its slit stalk.

٦. وَيَكاد يَذرى الدَمع نَرجِسُها إِذا
أَضحى وَيَقطر مِن شَقائِقِها الدَم

7. A land the sky converses with when night falls
And the stars shine out in its darkness.

٧. أَرض تُناجيها السَماء إِذا دَجا
لَيل وَلاحَت في دُجاها الأَنجُم

8. For the greenness of the air is the greenness of its gardens
And for its blossom, blossoms and light are born.

٨. وَلِخُضرة الجَو إِخضِرار رِياضها
وَلِزَهره زَهر وَنور ينجم

9. And as the rain splits the Milky Way's darkness
The land is split by streams teaming.

٩. وَكَما يَشق سَنا المَجَرة جوه
وادٍ يَشق الأَرض طامَ منعم

10. Nothing is left but the moon, as it goes astray
Living generously through its crescent's void.

١٠. لَم يَبقَ إِلا البَدر إِذ تاهَت بِهِ
وَحيا يَجود بِهِ مكب مُرهم
