1. The daughter of Al-Bikri blames me when I pine for her,
Though some saddened are stout and I am lean.

2. “May God assail you! You admire the roe
When you are far from home. Sorrows have kinds.”

3. And you have noble brothers, rich men all;
I said: “My noble brothers are my eyes.”

4. “Let me die before some mansion I must seize
That lowers faces of the applicants.”

5. “I will redeem my face’s water with my money,
For it holds the water of shyness within.”
