1. A charming girl passed by our monastery,
Bewitching all who saw her beauty.

2. The monks brought her out of her languor,
To exalt the monastery and its monks.

3. She passed by us with a gentle gait,
As if walking on clouds.

4. A breeze blew her way and she swayed with it,
Like a sprig of sweet basil bending.

5. My heart was seized, and long dormant sorrows
And passions were awakened.
