1. O you whose glance is enchanting,
And whose saliva is wine,

2. I dared and unveiled
When patience was overcome.

3. And how good it is in poetry
For the veil to be torn.

4. And if people blame me
In your face I have an excuse.

5. So leave me from your promises
When your time has passed.

6. No, by Allah, do not cheer up
Or the matter will be undone.

7. Either forced and blamed,
Or given and thanked.

8. If you wanted, you would make it easy
As you are named Easy.

9. And be like your name, do not prevent
Generosity and pride from you.

10. So I have not won my share of you
If your mention spreads.

11. Something has come to me about you
That has no patience for disliked things.

12. So I intentionally turned away
As a young man may turn away.

13. And I disciplined you with estrangement
But estrangement did not discipline you.

14. Nor did advice and warning
Bring you back from what you were.

15. So when hated things compelled me
And the matter became severe,

16. I struck you with a blow
That has no equal.

17. So you stirred the wings of humiliation
When the blow touched you,

18. If good does not reform
A man, evil reforms him.
