1. I come to you as an intercessor
For the heir of the Muslims

2. And your lookalike, al-Mu'tazz, the best
Of intercessors among mankind

3. O son of the first caliphs
And o father of our latter ones

4. The son of your servant has died and the days
Have worn out his peers

5. And he left behind young children
Clinging to his burial shrouds

6. And a weeping woman abandoned
Among relatives in tears

7. They woke to the doubt of events
And think good of you

8. The governors cut stipends
They had clung to

9. So favor with restoring all
That they cut without supervision

10. May He grant you the best of what you hope for
The best of benefactors
