1. I say to time that swerved from the path of righteousness
So it opposed the sons of generosity with refusal

2. And wellbeing to the pillar of villainy, debauchery and betrayal
And it resisted the Lord of clemency, generosity and glory

3. O time! How much do you spurn a seasoned intellectual
And please one who denounces, spawned from the morrow

4. And you elevate a lowly one and debase a sublime one
And you tyrannize the virtuous in jest and seriousness

5. Are you not blind when you distinguished a blinkered one
An ignorant one, seldom grateful to Allah and praise

6. Were you not satisfied with leadership but a superior one
Unlike a wicked one in whom craftiness is rendered useless

7. Indeed I grew old, my time, and turned incapacitated
From judging, not knowing misguidance from righteousness

8. So you opposed Suhban, tough and straight
While your confidant won cordiality

9. And you obliged me to say as a chronicler
It climbed in a month of nonsense without intention
