1. And when the adversities besieged the schools of education
It was dire and knowledge almost succumbed to ignorance

2. And the army of calamities laid siege to its fortresses
And promised it humiliation after dignity

3. It was saved by the kindness of the leader of its time
Noble of lineage, name, body and origin

4. And he dispelled the fear from it when he supported it
With the safe ally of permanence without separation

5. God granted him magnanimity, feared when encountering
The lions in situations of seriousness and jest

6. And he spreads the flags of civilization amongst us
And folds the registers of injustice with justice

7. And he raises the pillars of knowledge and borders them
With what he attained therein of reason and transmission

8. And he protects its sanctuary in adversities with resolve
And effort worthy of praise from all

9. So he remained for long in Egypt as his command lasted
As the Decisive willed in ordainment without deterrence

10. And his uncountable merits continued
With which the state of glory and virtue is adorned
