1. The Nile, from the abundant sea,
Has spread blessings over Egypt.

2. It flowed over its plains,
A flood whose foam reddened the rocks.

3. It watered the oasis and the desert,
Leaving no land neglected,

The land became from it a sea

5. Adorned by its neighboring palms.
The water will recede from it

6. And leave rings of fertile emerald meadows.
In Egypt, prosperity grows

7. With the blessings of its ruler.
With his fortunate star and good rule,

8. The wealth of every grateful servant grows.
With his justice, the tales of generosity

9. Are told by his subjects in his time.
Tales of his comfort, rain of gifts,

10. And clouds of generous, pouring favors.
How many boons he has, and gifts

11. That delight the heart before requests.
How many hands for the fortunate

12. Have shone in his horizon for beholders.
How many achievements have supported his homelands

13. With resources toward the heights and springs.
Among them is the army’s discipline, which when unsheathed,

14. Scatters heads with its frequent stabs.
Ask the flags of civilization about it,

15. For they have spread the garb of savagery.
Ask about its swords which in their sheaths

16. Destroy the brain of every stubborn lion.
Ask about its piercing bullets which

17. Are messengers of death to the foolish transgressor.
Ask about its forts and their defenders

18. For they have erased the features of fortresses.
So much Yemeni wisdom and firmness

19. With which the pillars of magnificent rule became high.
With his state, its policies became clear

20. Beyond the darkness of a miserable night.
O Nile, without whom

21. The Euphrates and every deep sea would be redundant.
You bring fertility each year to Egypt and its people,

22. So mix with prosperity again.
With you the clear becomes pure

23. When the water is turbid, contrary to what is apparent.
You are praiseworthy, your benefit has not ceased

24. To be renewed with the justice of this ruler.
He remains always a supporter of the upright religion.

25. With his rule, politics and armies.
Boasting of the intelligence of his promising son,

26. Keen to grasp the sciences, taking initiative.
Egypt was illuminated with organized processions

27. Hastening to build the victorious canal.
