1. With the glad tidings, the new year dawned in Egypt
It glows with the light of a sovereign who protects the nation

2. It glows with the light of a benevolent sovereign
Whose comfort encompasses the universe and all people

3. He is the Khedive whose flags
Were unfurled with merit in his era

4. And for civilization, extended its reach
Rushing to the peak of glory without hesitation

5. And achieved prominence by pioneering
Witnessed by both Arabs and non-Arabs

6. What a healer he is with his treatment
Of all the terrible illnesses that plagued it

7. And with his competence it has attained
All the happiness and honor it hoped for

8. And its rising star in the highest heaven
Is paired with good fortune in the abode of Islam

9. And how can it not when the Nile, where he commands it
Flows with abundant, copious fertility

10. And everything in it by the Almighty's decree
Appears in the best order and arrangement

11. And throughout its realm for celebrations
Are seasons of blessings and boons

12. And before him no edifices were toured
Other than the towering pagan pyramids

13. And now every place has a scenic resort
Illuminating minds and intellects

14. And in it, all construction beyond its sights
None in all of Rome or Syria can match

15. And this Egypt has praised him for
Sweet words it keeps repeating in the best of days

16. And its leaves twitter thanking him
For the justice with which he was finely adorned

17. And the resolve with which the pillars of his state
Rise above all others like Kyan or Bahram

18. And the vigilance that transcribed the signs of its wisdom
Countering ignorance and misconceptions

19. May he live each year of his time forever
Meeting it with a radiant smile

20. Increasing in wisdom for deeds
He pursues vigorously and intently

21. Or good fortune heralds with glad tidings
A blessed year of Egypt's noble Khedive
