1. The inhabitant of Shibl does not care, he of gentle heart
And soul kind to visitors,

2. Heir of glory from his father, the father of high knowledge,
Named the Friend, Abraham,

3. Who saw in the sword the armies of ignorance,
And quenched them with a drink of hot water,

4. The bouquet of excellence, intelligence and great virtues,
The mine of righteousness and abundant generosity,

5. Unique in the age, none compares to him,
In purpose or in noble character,

6. Repelling delusions with understanding,
None can claim equality in his possession,

7. My passion is for that which his qualities inspire,
Present perfections and innate noble nature,

8. I know not who would blame me for praising
One whom I adore for his wisdom,

9. Delight of the gnostics, best of sons,
Star of fortune and balanced words,

10. Treasure of their knowledge growing when
Spent on opinion and teaching,

11. Leave all others and adhere to them, where appears
The full moon of sciences and honor,

12. Among them is Muhammad, best child,
Adorned with understanding and insight,

13. No prince can match him in glory,
Or in customs and organization,

14. Praising him and spreading his fame are permitted to me
With rhetorical ingenious ode,

15. His magnificent traits have taught me verses,
His sun rose in a dark night,

16. His gentle nature guided me to him,
And I came to give thanks and respect,

17. This is my praise to you, so grant me
Acceptance in which is my bliss,

18. I do not seek the ode for money
Or hope for it from a benefactor and chief,

19. One does not sell glory in return for ignorance
Except an unjust or foolish lord,

20. O my prince, you are my wealth and treasure
How could I fear the turns of hostile fate?

21. God has blessed us through you,
Burdened by you with gentle breeze,
