1. With you, O garden of al-As, my passion grew,
And with your peerless sight, my infatuation thrived,

2. And I was enamored with every soft branch
That feigns delicacy with the softness of its figure.

3. Upon carpets of roses amid streams
Your sweet springs made my abode,

4. And there creativity was awakened to compose poetry
In praise of Egypt’s mighty Imam.

5. The lion, Ismail, its patron, who
Flooded the land with bountiful rain,

6. Was always righteous, merciful and protective of reputations
Toward kinsman and stranger alike.

7. Undertaking throughout his era
To fulfill every due right and duty nobly,

8. Why not, and for the exalted lineage he was chosen
And crowned with the crown of leadership.

9. He answered when asked and honored him
With kind greeting and peace.

10. And to him was led the noble-born lady
Whom glory eulogized before she was weaned.

11. Then followed successive joys in the land of high heavens
With progress in every growing affair,

12. And in it smiled the cheeks of joy
With charming, subtle pearl-like order.

13. So congratulations to you, son of Sa’eed, of rank
Of the valiant counselor, and attainment of every hope,

14. And suitability whereby you rejoice over noble
Youth of the sublime station.

15. And lasting support for you from the lion of dignitaries
Bowing obediently without bridle,

16. And supreme status in the state of Saud
Where the Khedive is Egypt’s greatest protector,

17. And enjoyment under its shade of positions
And ranks flowering with raising of status,

18. And luxury of eternal presidency
And prosperity while awake and asleep,

19. What shone on the horizon of glories like a star
Or diffused as sealed musk in refinement,

20. Said my glory in congratulations: bestow
A feather-adorned hat of the full moon to the summit of the sun.
