1. I was told you've praised every prince
In poems, extolling their virtues

2. So why did you not praise Ali?
The resolute, the wise, the brave

3. I said I'm at a loss for words
To praise one no king compares

4. He is the lion cub, mighty and bold
None rivals his valiance, not even Antar

5. O finest of the age in every meaning
And loftiest of rank in every gathering

6. You are Qais in judgment, nay you are best
Preceding him in eloquence and wisdom

7. You lead in the state of glories
For Abul Fadl and his intrepid son Ja'far

8. Indeed, you have assumed the traits
Of integrity and righteousness, beyond count

9. So remain in Egypt, a refuge for the weak
Victorious in praise, everywhere

10. My scrolls contain no eulogy that can match
Your pearls and jewels of glory
