1. My eyes have led me into love without my hands,
And whoever I determined upon, if he remains deaf, not my hands.

3. So what can I do, and estrangement has changed my state,
And the army of sorrow - an arrow of yearning has deafened it.

4. In me is real love and passion, and the beloved turns away
To the superfluity of a coquette, smooth of cheek, aggressive.

5. But the nights of his hair and its length
On a branch of acacia in the sailing are most pliable.

By which every languid one in the darkness is guided.

7. And the sorcery of eyelids above which is a branding
To it, by the captive of passion, the deed of the flexuous.

8. And worshipper of a fire who does not cease to be blessed
By the garden of a cheek with burning coals kindled.

9. And a mouth over pearls of ruby preserving
Like a guard of treasure with sword bared.

10. And a cheek adorned - every knot adorned with its beauty -
Thus it came in the morning for lovers blooming like a poppy.

11. If the messenger of my beloved brought good tidings
And told me of the near one without appointment,

12. I would allow it my soul though she
Is the easiest thing he brings with cordiality.

13. And I extinguished what was in me of the embers of youth
With a draft of pleasure intoxicating and cooled.

14. So if he stood at the altar, I would pray behind him,
And it suffices me that I follow the enraptured.

15. And if he circled with the wine-bearer, I would be his boon companion
And I would break my ritual worship in passion and devotion.

And sometimes with the full moon of perfect beauty singular.

20. And one day you see me dissolved in passion
For a graceful stature or rosy cheek.

21. And one day I wander and extol in my rapture
Goblets of my eulogy for the dark-complexioned prince.

22. The trustee of the precious items in Jeddah
And protector of the sanctuary there with upright opinion.

23. And best of those whose souls were delighted in eternity
With a son who appeared like the sun on the day of birth.

24. So I said in times of tranquility dating
Mustafa came like the full moon in the expanse of Ahmed.

25. And I said expressing happiness dating
The chosen Mustafa the precious lion came to Ahmed.

26. And when this scion arose and his
Knowledge shone in the abode of might and felicity,

27. And he forgot with what he created more eloquent than the past
Like al-Qiss and Suhban without hesitation.

28. And he liberally sprinkled with eloquence and propriety
Annotations that have decided for him uniqueness.

29. Composition boasted of him while an adolescent
And he won precedence with certainty confirmed.

30. And every young man who became knowledgeable in his arts
Gestures with fingertips together with the hand.

31. God grant him from the boldness of a devout success
In good and kindness in every institute.

32. And good tidings - so the Master accept his pilgrimage
And he attained wishes with the Prophet Muhammad.

33. And he returned to Egypt in acceptance crowned
Upon him from approval a dress most fortunate.

34. So I recited to him therein good fortune dating
By the right and pilgrimage of Mustafa you are guided.

36. And since the light of composition shone from his forehead,
It appeared like a bride who adorned herself with a crown.

37. And it said to him "welcome, greetings, and hello
To the keeper of my covenant, my son, my master."

38. O you who ascended like the son of Al-'Amīd in his magic
Not illicit, but he surpassed him with refined glory.

39. And he immortalized for him ‘Abd al-Ḥamīd and Ja‘far
And every magnificent or brilliant glorified one.

40. And he came to directly serve the doors of the precious one
In Egypt despite the envy of the refuters.

41. And he expressed what his breast concealed for people
Of goodness - if it is adorned with the sweetest spring.

42. You are congratulated with the highest rank you have assumed
With the position of glory of well-prepared lineage.

43. And below you are my prime compositions a gift
That enjoys your patronage in the evening and tomorrow.

44. And I have protected it from intricacy and error
And refined its meaning with steps firmly tread.

45. And my beautiful affection for the Emir it is which
Has made me excellent in composing praise a guide.

46. And for me from you, if I fall short in praise, an intercessor -
Your approval, and I am with your patronage in attendance.

47. And your position, my master, is above the praises
That have come from a lad who did not know the letters of the alphabet.

48. And that is, may God shepherd you, a gift from me
To the extent of what I have and what my hands possess.

49. So take it without dowry, for you are deserving of it,
And you are more right to it for what you possess of help.

50. And live secure in the state of glory, the companion
Of this happy, supported Khedive.

51. And remain ascendant in what I have dated praising -
I poured for splendor and Waheeb the most glorious positions.
