1. How splendid and joyous is this bridge,
generously built by the blessed ruler, abundantly useful.

2. With iron tracks firmly laid down its length,
its great benefit made manifest.

3. As though it were a king marshaling his army
with pride, beneath the waves that lap its bank.

4. Caravans kiss its earth as they cross over
and proceed in security, gladdened.

5. To the right you see one procession,
to the left, others come into view.

6. When the trains glide straight along its tracks
water flows between them as from a sieve.

7. Should mountains rise to bar the way,
it charges on, rending obstacles asunder.

8. The achievements of King Sa'id Muhammad
merit our praise and thanks.

9. Inspire our pens to eulogize with eloquence
the virtues of his brilliant reign,

10. That continues to bring his lands
from dawn to dusk continuous joy.

11. What Al-Majdi has inscribed will stand,
the noble one built Egypt its finest bridge.
