1. A poem came to me from my beloved
So my thoughts were purified when I heard it

2. As if it were a lush garden
Blooming with flowers, fragrant with fruit

3. Its beginning made the two moons unnecessary
Just as your greetings make moons unnecessary

4. It was delivered by hands of joy so I thought
Those hands held a cup of wine

5. I kissed it and got drunk on its words
Thanking the one who crafted these verses

6. Oh son of Sa’eed, and who is that boy
Who brought us good tidings about him?

7. Congratulations on your newborn as you
Congratulations to me, the best of the best

8. Your station will surely rise to glory
For the cub remains like a vicious lion

9. A thousand thousand greetings to you from me
And from the loving Muhammad al-Najjar
