1. Springs of intimate joy, pure rose gardens
And the most delicate, radiant rose cheeks

2. With voices of songs that have blended
In harmony and tune of the lute

3. So serve it up but if you mix its draft
It becomes rancid dregs of great barriers

4. Or just a tale of old made new again
Recited to people before Thamud’s time

5. Take my soul, my reason and my passions as its price
For through it is my annihilation, witness to my being

6. And the only pleasure of life is in the wine-house
And in distance, closeness, accord and dispute

7. So take me to taverns at every moment
And let me kiss and embrace idols

8. And leave the conduct of ascetics, don’t stop
Our pleasures at any limits

9. And if my gazelle appears, bring me close to her temple
Even if it lies atop the peaks of Sarwat

10. And do not forbid me, by God, from loving coquettes
With the beauty of tempting, supple idols

11. They have ailments of passing sickness
Raging with an ardent kiss on cheeks

12. They have mouths of ruby, adorned
With precious gems in dangling necklaces

13. So to me, in their love, is honor
Which makes light for me the weight of shackles

14. So do not hope for any union from Motammim
Who is fortunate in keeping his word

15. And cease the blame with which you have been consumed
For it is pure transgression of envious rivals

16. And were it not for constant sleeplessness and gloom
And excessive sickness and growing despair

17. Youthfulness would not have appeared after concealment
With fires in the heart, stoked and fueled

18. And the heedless would not succeed in alluring
One determined, not confused, in purpose

19. And how can I control what I have hidden in my conscience
When my tears are before me as witnesses?

20. So O long night, continue, I am patient towards rejection
Perhaps it will fulfill its promises of love

21. And O you who turn away, do not use kohl
While he remains averse, before pleased by my submission

22. For you are the one who trapped me in his ropes
And left me in them without a sympathetic ear

23. And you are the one who at first glance
Spilled blood from my ulcerous bosom

24. So what do you want from me now when I
Am not stingy with reconciliation and reunion?

25. I am singular in my devotion to his love
As Ishmael singularly generous

26. A supreme king who ruled with Yemeni wisdom
That gave life and confounded ancestors

27. His determination to dispel every affliction
With shining swords amidst heavy clouds

28. For him, at the heights of knowledge, is an awakening
With which ignorance reached its lowest abyss

29. He has a precedence in politics’ fields
Meandering in its valleys that belong to him

30. For God’s servants he has a father’s kindness
And sweet, delicious gifts for guests

31. So O new year, yours are abundant blessings
For fertility and new births

32. For the king of the age made Egypt’s barren landscape
Flow with Yemen’s water after stillness

33. Reviving its wastelands with it
Without holding back its currents by dams

34. And no obstacle impeded its swift course
Nor did incidents make it stagnant

35. And how many helpful hands we call him
Thereby good increases, flowing without end

36. And my comfort transcends ten seas
Pouring, watering the furthest Indians

37. And he is guided by justice to succeed in his rule
By redressing the oppressed and ending grudges

38. And from his light the dawn of civilization appeared to us
At dawn, a pillar of radiance from him

39. And his homelands, in every era, are the best preserved
By the scripture of the truthful

40. Especially in the shadow of his state which
Along with victory, spread with unfurled flags

41. And his enemies are engulfed in the fire of cannons
His formidable, thundering allies

42. And from every crevice rifles seize them
White and brown hands of soldiers

43. And they overcome those who betrayed him
With great might, fiercely attacking lions

44. And before their forced dispersion, they are called
To wretchedness, in settlements of desolation

45. But patience in the Almighty, and mercy
Forgiveness of the offender and decisive settlement

46. With them, all hearts became repositories
Of sincere love, without stubbornness

47. And so the throne in Egypt continues rising
Gaining at every moment, ascending

48. And the kingdoms of the world constantly
Bow to its supremacy, prostrating

49. And its descendants remain with it in its kingdom
Trusting in its eternity, everlasting

50. And my eulogy continues recording
You illuminated with Ismail a year of good fortune
